Your journey begins with a pick-up from Kilimanjaro International Airport or your hotel in Arusha. From there, you will head to Tarangire National Park, which is located in the northern part of Tanzania, approximately 2-3 hours from Arusha. Tarangire is known for its dramatic landscapes, including the iconic baobab trees and vast savannah plains. It is one of Tanzania’s oldest national parks, established in 1970, and spans over 2,850 square kilometers.
Upon arrival in the park, you will start your game drive, where you can experience one of the best wildlife encounters in Tanzania. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, which often number in the hundreds, particularly during the dry season when animals gather around the Tarangire River. The park is also home to numerous predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as a wide range of antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes. Birdwatching is another highlight of the park, as it is home to over 550 species of birds, including migratory birds and the endangered African grey parrot.
After an exciting day of exploring the park, you will head to Stc Safari Lodge , which is located on the outskirts of the town of Karatu.

After an early breakfast at Martina Retreat, you will depart for Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most famous wildlife conservation areas in the world. Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was established as a conservation area in 1959 and is the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world. The crater floor spans about 260 square kilometers and is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. It was formed when an ancient volcano collapsed, creating a fertile, self-contained ecosystem that supports a variety of species.
Upon arrival at the crater rim, you will descend into the caldera for a half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its rich biodiversity, with large herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, and gazelles, as well as predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs. The crater is also a sanctuary for black rhinos, which are endangered, and it is one of the few places in the world where they can still be observed in the wild. The landscape is stunning, with the lush greenery of the crater floor surrounded by steep, dramatic walls.
You will have the opportunity to see a wide range of wildlife, including elephants and the occasional leopard or cheetah. In addition to the game drive, you will also take in the panoramic views of the crater from the rim before heading back to Stc Safari Lodge for another peaceful evening. The lodge will serve a well-deserved dinner, and you can unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the evening, reflecting on the natural wonders you’ve witnessed.

On your final day, you will experience the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania by visiting the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe are one of the last remaining nomadic hunter-gatherer tribes in the world, and they have lived in the area around Lake Eyasi for centuries. The Hadzabe people still maintain traditional hunting methods, using bows and arrows to hunt game and gather food in the wild. You will have the chance to meet members of the tribe, learn about their customs and lifestyle, and watch them demonstrate their hunting skills.
Next, you will visit the Datoga tribe, known for their pastoral way of life and their skill in metalworking, particularly making tools and jewelry. The Datoga people are traditionally cattle herders, and they live in simple villages where they raise cattle and practice age-old traditions. You will have the opportunity to witness their daily activities, such as making jewelry and pottery, and learn about their ancient customs, which have been passed down through generations.
After the cultural experience, you will begin your journey back toward Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, you can either head directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight or enjoy some time at a nearby hotel for a relaxing meal and a chance to reflect on your incredible journey through Tanzania.
